The assessment Analysis functionality allows you to view the assessment results for your school. This includes data that you have entered in edge, and data which has been downloaded from e-asTTle and NZCER.

Viewing assessment results and filtering the data for analysis

Available assessments for the English and Mathematics curriculum are detailed below, including the 'Science' tab.

  1. You can view assessment results from several views by selecting the appropriate data, by:

  2. The pages default to the current year, with links at the top of the page to the previous years if applicable.

  3. For the Class, Year Level and School views, there is the option to filter the data displayed by ethnicity and gender.

  4. Various views of the assessment data and output options are available, which depends on the assessment selected.

For more information on specific assessments, see links at the bottom of this article.

Students

  1. From the 'Students' tab select the required student from the drop down box. Analysis of all results (from any edge school record of current students) can be viewed up to, and including their leaving date in your school

  2. The assessments where results have been entered for the student will be displayed. Selecting the link required will display the full results for that assessment.

  3. The ‘Assessment Summary’ includes all the assessment result for the student.

  4. Where a student is in years 1 to 3, the assessment results for all 3 years will be displayed.

  2. Select your student's CURRENT details (eg. Class, learning group, year level etc) regardless of the ANALYSIS year (previous, or prior to that) for which you now wish to view details.

    Example:

    In 2015 to view a year 7 student's year 6  2014 assessment results, from the Curriculum > Assessment > Analysis page, top right of your page click the "Previous" button to view 2014 results. It's important to then select year 7 (even though year 6 data is what you are wanting).

    Last year's leavers are not included in this filter. To see a leaver student's results, navigate to the individual student's tab. Tick the "leavers" filter.You can filter the class(es) selected by using the Ethnicity and/or Gender filters.

  3. All the assessments that have been configured (set up) for your school will be displayed, regardless of whether results have been entered.

  4. Choose the required assessment by selecting the appropriate link.

  3. All the assessments that have been configured (set up) for your school will be displayed, regardless of whether results have been input, except where the assessment output may not be suitable for the number of student records, e.g. the Running Records graph would not be easy to read if it displayed the results for a whole year level.

  4. Choose the required assessment by selecting the appropriate link.

School

  1. You can filter the school by using the Ethnicity and/or Gender filters.

  2. Comparative Analysis

  1. This is currently available for the following assessments:

    • PAT suite

    • STAR (2012)

  2. The comparison of results data can be made across two years, or for the same year.

    Note:  Year 1 defaults to the current Analysis year. Where you wish to begin comparison with a year other than the current year, select the 'Previous Year' to change this.

    Year 2 will then default to the previous year selected, but can be changed as required.

  3. You can then select which test results to compare for the two years selected. For example: Results 1 in 2013 with Results 1 in 2014.

  4. The results for a specific student are determined by the number of tests (s)he has completed for the year (s) selected. For example:

    • If 6 students are in the group selected for comparison, of which students 1-4 did their first STAR test in March, and students 5 and 6 did not do their first STAR test until June;

    • A selection is made of 'Results 1' for comparison for both years;

    • The 'Results 1' retrieved for the 6 students will include the 4 tests completed in March and the 2 completed in June.
