Browsers impacting edge

We've heard of a few schools experiencing issues with browsers affecting edge, and offer some steps to prevent these.

Some schools have experienced browser issues impacting edge, and specifically Chrome's ability to hold onto information. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • maintenance outage screens appearing when edge is online

  • receiving permission denied when logging into edge and on some screens

  • multiple error 500 screens when going into multiple screens across edge (while other users are able to get in fine)

We suggest the following steps, carried out in the order listed:

Remove all existing bookmarks

  1.  From the main menu select Bookmarks > Bookmark manager

  2.  Check each folder and remove any saved bookmarks for edgelearning.co.nz

Remove all saved username and passwords

  1.  From the main menu select Settings

  2.  From the bottom of the page select Show Advanced Settings

  3.  Under Passwords and forms select Manage passwords

  4.  Check the Saved passwords list and delete any for edgelearning.co.nz

Remove Cookies and Cached data

  1.  From the main menu select Settings

  2.  From the bottom of the page select Show Advanced Settings

  3.  Under Privacy select "Clear browsing data"

  4.  Change Obliterate the following items from: to "the beginning of time"

  5.  Tick Cookies and other site and plug-in data, and Cached images and files (set all others to blank); then select Clear browsing data

Note if this does not resolve the problem, repeat the process and select Browsing History - use with caution as it deletes all of the user's history not just sites related to MUSAC.
